In  year  2010   Indonesia  got  three  certificates  of  the  world  heritage recognition  from  UNESCO  for   BATIK,  KERIS  and WAYANG,  the Indonesian traditional  puppet –  show, drawing  and handicrafts.

Borobudur  Temple,  the  biggest  Buddha  temple  in  the  world, located  in  Middle  Java, Yogyakarta,  Indonesia, ever been recognized  as one  of  the  Seven World  Wonder. And hopefully  will be follow  by  the  other  Indonesia World  Wonder, the KOMODO, the  dragon of  the  pre-history ancient age fauna.

THE ROYAL  REPLICA  ADORNMENT

In  the  old  times, the Indonesian  used  only  the  genuine  gold (22 – 24 carat  gold ) for  their  jewelries. Or  make  it  golden,  like   the  vermeil  (gold  plated  on  sterling  silver  or  on  other metal)  either  in  gold  tone.

In  those  days,  the  silver  works  only  for  souvenirs, home accessories  and house appliances.

Formerly, the  Indonesian  gold  jewelry  wearer  reflected  three meanings. Showing  their  class, their richness, and  as  an investment. And  it  still  happen  until  now. Especially  the  village  people  and  the  low  labor  class, not  only  to  declare  their  richness  and  to  get  respect, but mainly  they  can  sell  the jewelry  instantly  at  anytime  if  they  need  cash  money.

Till  now, most  of  the  Indonesian  jewelry  wearer  respect  only  the 22 – 24 carats  gold  jewelry.  Genuine  gold   or  none.

After  many   western  foreigners   visited  Indonesia, after the 1960’s, especially  in  Bali  and  Java, Indonesia  had been introduced  to (sterling) silver  jewelries, and   had   enriched   the  creativity  of  the  crafters  and  artisan. Since  then,  some  of  Indonesian  started  to  like  the (ethnic) oxidized  silver  jewelry, which used  to  called  as  “burned/baking  silver” . But  the  genuine  gold  lover,  still  exist.

Now,  the  Indonesian  wearing   jewelry  is  not  only  for  showing their social  level  and  for investment  anymore, but  mostly  for their  personal happiness  to  enhance  their  beauty.

But  anyhow,  gold  and  diamond  still  the  prime  class  in Indonesia  social life. Still  one  and  another way  to  get  social  respect  to  their  richness  and  their  personal  belongings.

Formerly  they  were  feeling  misfits  if  wearing  something ‘different’ (cheap), but  now  they  become  bold  and  dare  to  be different. They  are feeling  free  to  wear  any  kind  of  material  to pleased  them self, to reach their  happiness, to  expressed   their personality.

Personal  style  becomes  more  important  to  express  the character  and  personality  of the wearer.

Nowadays, collecting  and  wearing  jewelries  in  any  various material  and style, become  a  strong  need  to  every  Indonesian female  in  any  social class. As  well  as  the  male.

Wearing jewelries  like  on RossAtelier.com galleries  becomes  a  new  consciousness  for  the  Indonesian  to  more  appreciate  the  wealth  of  its  nature  sources  and   more  respect  to  the  amazing  creativity  of  their own artisan  and  crafters.

*THE   REPLICA

On  RossAtelier.com you  could  find  the unique, historical  beads  and adornments, of  the  Indonesia ‘Royal replica’. It  is  inspired  or  copied  from the  former  old  Royal  Kingdom  and  Sultan  Palace  or  from  the  traditional   Indonesian  tribal  adornment.

The  original  of  the  royal   family’s  jewelry  were  made  of  genuine  gold. Stunning  in  big sizes. It  could  come  as  pendant or  bead (Java Bead) or  other  astonishing  shape  of  adornment.

Indonesia  is  rich  with  unique  jewelry  designs, since  Indonesia  had kingdoms  and  sultans  in  ancient  age  with  its  own  specific  designs. And some  of  the  kingdoms  and  sultans  still  exist  as  a  cultural  symbol  in  their  regions.

Before  the  independent, Indonesia  consist  of  small  Kingdoms , Sultan  and Chief of  Clan  Tribes. They  also  support  to  make  the Indonesia  independence   happened.

The  most  famous  kingdom/sultan  which  still  exist  and  as  a  ruling  government   in  its  region, after  the  independent,  is  the  Sultan  of   Yogyakarta  (Jogja)   at  Middle  of  Java.  This  historical  and  legend  kingdom  under  the  Sultan Hamengku  Buwono  IX  is  highly  respected  for  their  militancy  to  support   the  independence  of  Indonesia   during  the  revolution  era   against   the  Dutch  3,5 ages  of  domination  in  Indonesia. (Today  Jogja   have  The  Sultan  Hamengku  Buwono  X , and  as  the Governor  of  Yogyakarta as well. The  name  of  Yogyakarta  is  mention  sometimes  as  “Yogya”  or   “Jogja”).

Other   famous  Sultans  in  Central of  Java  lied  in  Solo ( Surakarta).

Now, you  could  also  wear  the  replica  or  copy  of  the  Indonesia Royal family  adornment. On  RossAtelier.com you  could  find  some  of  the replicas and  copies  of  the  Royal  society  of Yogyakarta  Kingdom  and  the Sultan  of   Central  of  Java. Also from  Lombok  on  Sumba  island  at  East Indonesia, like  the  big square  pendant, called “Mamuli”  (ma-moo-lee), a symbol  of woman’s  fertility.

Mamuli, amulet symbol of  fertility , Sumba  replica, pendant/RossAtelier.

The  replica  or copy  were  made  from  plated  silver, plated gold,  or  gold on brass, chromed, basic metal, or  vermeil. What  you can  get  from  Ross Atelier.com  is  not  only  to  have  the  rare  and distinctive artwork  with  its wonderful look, but  also  at  affordable price.

These  replicas  are  durable. Like other high end silver jewelry, this royal replica jewelry could comes  in  shiny look  or  matt look, or  the  look of  the precious metal  and  the  vintage  look. Or in  a plain look, or  the  oxidized process, even  in  antique  look.

Beside  the  filigree pendants  and beads, most of the (big) beads are stamped and plated or chromed. The filigree’s  is  heavier  than  the stamped.  The stamped  beads, even  the big size beads, is very light, since  it  has  empty room inside.

Royal  replica  or  copy  only  made  to  limited  special  order. There  are almost  no  ready  stock. These  beautiful  adornments  as seen  on RossAtelier.com galleries, in  our  knowledge, it  didn’t  sell in  shops  or  by common  vendors. The  replicas  on Ross Atelier  is  a  “not  anywhere  found’ item.

The  ‘vendor’  who  is  also  the  maker, usually  is  a  relative  of   the royal palace  family  or  been  employed   by   the  kingdom  and  sultan  for  long  time.  And  they  are  also  special  crafter. In  hereditary, they  just  dedicated their  entire  life  for  the  royal palace  and  the  royal  family.

Till  now,  is  not  easy  to  find  such  replica  creations  on  internet (designer  and  artisan jewelry website) as  have  offered   you  here  on  RossAtelier.com

So, what  to  wait?

Kindly  have  a  deep  look  into  the  fine  craftsmanship  in  these Ross Jewels jewelries. Like  the  filigree  and  the ‘thousands’  tiny knots, where  tons  of  tiny  knots  are  crafted  one  by  one  and then  put  them  on  its  shape, like  eaves  shape, etc. It  is  a  very exclusive  artcrafted  work of  the  old  seniors  crafters. They  are hereditary  artists  who  used  to  work  as  the  silversmith and goldsmith  in  the  palace  and   for  the  royal  family. The  crafters who crafted  these  works  are   old  senior  artists  (the  ‘left  over’  early  generation ), who  had  dedicated  their  entire  life, hereditary, for  fine quality  craftsmanship  only.

It’s  a  worry  that  this  ‘last generation’  of   the  fine  craftsmanship will  be soon  fade  away, since  the  young  generation  had  lost  the diligently, lost  the  patient, and  has  no  interest  in  such  serious and  such  ‘slow’ processed fine  artwork. Instant  money  became  the  first  to  the  young  generation  motivation. Or  probably  they  don’t  care  to  their  own  cultural  heritage  anymore.

Or  perhaps  they  just  don’t  realize  that  ‘fashion’  is  just  about  ‘recycling’  of  imagination  and creation,  about  picking  here  and picking  there  of   mixing  cultural. About  renewing  the  old.

If  they had realized  it, means, no  knowledge  and  no  skill  will  be  a  waste  in vain

*JEWELRY   CARE

Jewelry   care  for  the  silver  plated  and  chromed  jewelry  is  very simple.  Same  like  sterling silver  jewelry. Before  and  after wearing, just   wipe   or   rub   it  with  dry  soft  cloth. Or  with  damp cloth, then  dry  it  soon.

For  the  chromed  jewelry, use  plain  luke  warm  water, or  you can  add  with mild  soap  water  or  silver  care  liquid, and wipe  it with  soft  cloth, then deeply  dried. Never  used  any (strong) chemical  liquid, like  the household  liquid.

Some  people  use  toothpaste  to  clean  sterling silver, silver plated or  the chromed  one. But many  experts  caution  against  it because  they  feel toothpaste  is  too  abrasive  and  leaves  dulling scratches.(See  also:  about   “Jewelry Care” on  Info pages  on  Ross Atelier.com). Don’t  ever  scrub  it  in  any  reason, it  will  ruin  the  surface.

Like  the  Sterling Silver (SS)  jewelry, everything  except  gold  and  platinum,  is  strongly   suggested  to  keep  in  ziplock.  Deeply  clean  and dried  before  you  put  it  into  ziplock. This  is  a  very simple  way  to  keep y our  jewelry  from  staining ,tarnished,  or color  changing.  The  save  and the best  way,  after  ziplock  then put  them  in  air-free  box  or  container
