Did  you  ever  find  the  name  ‘Indonesia’  in  jewelries  or  gemstone, semi precious  and  precious stones  on  (jewelry) internet  or  international  offline  shops?

It’s  hard  to  find.  But  luckily  I  ever  found  an American  artisan  jewelry  website  which  mention “Indonesia  trade  bead’  for the lampwork  glass  bead  jewelry  she  offered.  Other  mention “Indonesia  glassbead”  or  “Recycled glassbead”  or  as  “village  glassbead” . And  other  US artisan, who  clearly mentioned  the Indonesia soured.

I  also  ever  found  on  Ebay  mentioned  that  the  beautiful  big  turquoise  Chrysocolla  cabochon  on   it  was  from  West Java, Indonesia. What  a  happy  surprise. Thank  You  for  the  kind  mentioned.

Indonesia  has  Chrysocolla  gemstone, especially   in  island  at   the  East.  Even  Petoskey, the  amazing   fossil’s  stone  we  had   in South  Sumatra.

All  the  earth  stone , gemstone, semi precious  and  precious  stone  in  Indonesia,  had  called  in its  local  names. And  the  native  people  in  this  field  have  no  knowledge   about   its  international  trade  name. ( Visit also  “About Gemstone” and  “Birth Stone”  page on  RossAtelier.com ).

If  you  had  visited  my  other  article  about   Indonesia   on  this  RossAtelier.wordpress. com (“What  else  do you  know  about  Indonesia?”), you  should  know  that  Indonesia  is  a  very-very  rich  land, which  carried  treasures   in   its  earth  stomach, forest, water, mountain,  even  in  caves.

Indonesia  is  also  very  rich  in  natural  sources, included  the natural stones; gemstones, semi-precious stones, even  precious  stone, and  fossils. Stone Fossil, Shell fossil, Wood Fossil. Various kind  of  fossils. They  are  not  only  found  in  mountain  and hills, or  in  the stomach  of  the  earth, in  deep sea  and  all water space, in  wood  and  forest, or  just  in  ground, in river, even  in  caves.

Indonesia  has  lot  of  volcanoes, included  the most  active volcanoes  in  the world.  Indonesia  is rich  of  many  kinds  of mineral, oil  and  gas. Also  sea, water  space ,  wood, forest, plant, and agriculture  treasures.

Did  you  ever  heard  about  the  legend  volcano  “Krakatau”? It located  near West  Java. Or  about  mount  “Merapi”? This  most active  volcano  in  the  world  located  in Central  of Java near Yogyakarta ( Jogja).

No  wonder  if  Indonesia  is  also  rich  in  Obsidian   natural  stone  from  the  volcano  lava.

But  where  goes  all   the  natural  treasures, like  the  fossils, obsidian, gemstones , the  semi/precious  stones? Where goes  all these  Indonesia’s  wealth?

Since  long  time  ago  the  Indonesian  villager  keep seeking, digging  and  selling  the  raw material  of  gemstone  and (semi) precious stones.

But  as  a  jewelry  and  to days  adornment, it   just  ‘boom’  in Indonesia  for  some  recent  years. Means, the  Indonesia  beauty like  the  natural  stones  treasures  had  been  neglected  for  too long. Never  been  seriously  explored  as a  high  end  jewelries.

For  too  long, the  only  form  or shape  they knew  just  the cabochon form. The  tools  and  machinery  still  very  poor  and never  been  developed  seriously. The skills  still  traditional. So, the  easiest  way  for  the  digger  and  vendor  to  make  money  is to sell  the  treasures  as  raw  material.  In  original  bulks  or  as cabochon.

Later, came  the  ‘smart’  merchants  to  take  the  raw  material  out  from Indonesia  and  brought  to  overseas, and  processed  into fine  and  marketable  gemstone, semiprecious  and precious  stone. And  then  bring  it  back  again  to  Indonesia  in unrecognizable shape  and  look,  in  different name  and….  in unreachable  price, of  course.

When  the  gemstones, semi  and  precious  stones  back  to Indonesia  in different  appearance (polished  shape), no  one  can recognized  it  as  the  Indonesia’s  genuine  stones  anymore.

Its  name  had  turned  into  international  trade  names  and  the Indonesia  treasures  became  beyond  recognition. And  no  one  would mention  it  was  genuine  Indonesia’s  gemstone, semi and precious  stone anymore.

It  were  made  from  tons  and  tons  of  raw  material   from Indonesia’s  earth  wealth……..
